Pine Ridge Reservation

Pine Ridge Reservation is a 3,468.86 sq miles large land area in the South-West of South-Dakota, Shannon County and Jacskon County, two of the poorest parts of the U.S. Pine Ridge is the second largest reservation in the U.S. Over 20.000 people live theer most of them Oglala Lakota (Sioux).

Life circumstances are miserable. There's a great lack of housing and when there's housing in most cases there's no water, no sewer, neither electricity or heating. Often family's have to live with over 15-25 persons in a 3-room cabin. Most people live in mobil homes or little woorden shacks, totally inadequate in winter (-15C).

Unemployment rate is between 80% and 90% for years. Average life expectation is 55 while childdeath is 2 times higher of the national average. 60% youngsters can't get a proper education. A lot of youngsters are severe of a foetaal alcohol syndrome, are orphan and fall back in criminal behaviour because of the lack of a change on a future......
